Contest #3 – Favorite Family Field Trip Ideas

*This contest is over, but the responses are still available in the Comment section.*

A Twaddle-Free EducationAnnouncing the third book giveaway contest from Simple Pleasures Press!  Throughout the month of June 2015, to celebrate the beginning of summer, we’ll be running a series of giveaway contests.  During the last week of June (which is next week already!), there will be a Grand Prize so you’ll want to stay tuned.  🙂

The book to be given away this week will be an autographed paperback edition of the new book, A Twaddle-Free Education: An Introduction to Charlotte Mason’s Timeless Educational Ideas, by Debi Taylor-Hough.

All you need to do is submit Your Favorite Family Field Trip Idea in the comment section of this blog post.

Contest Rules:

  1. Leave a comment on this blog page containing your Favorite Family Field Trip Idea.  (Only one entry per person will count toward the contest.)  One winner will be chosen at random.
  2. Be sure to fill out the email address section of the comment form so I’ll have a way to contact you if you’re the winner.  (The prize will be sent via snail mail, so when I contact the winner, they’ll need to provide a valid mailing address — but please don’t leave your snail mail address in the comment section!).

So, that’s it.  Easy peasy.

Official entries for this giveaway will close at Midnight (Pacific Standard Time) on Friday, June 19th, 2015.  At some point during the day on Saturday, June 20th 2015, I’ll choose a random number using an online random number generator.  Whoever’s entry is located at that number’s spot in the comment list will be the winner!

Remember:  You need to enter your comment and family field trip idea between Monday morning (when this blog post went live) and before Midnight of the following Friday to be eligible.  The comment section will remain open indefinitely, however — so people can feel free to share their tips just for the fun of it — but ONLY those comments posted BEFORE midnight on Friday will be actually entered into the official drawing.

So, are you ready?

Then let’s go! ———->  What’s YOUR favorite family field trip idea?

~Debi

Next Week’s Prize:  “The Grand Prize!”  The lucky winner will receive one copy of EACH of the five books currently offered by Simple Pleasures Press! Tell your friends!  Be sure to sign up for email updates from this blog (form is in the sidebar to the left) to stay up-to-date on coming giveaways, contests, new book releases, and other events.

I’m excited for this book!! Our favorite field trip is our annual walk around a local lake. We discuss the ways the lake changes each year and investigate the natural wonders along the way.

We go berry picking. I planted some berries in our yard to tend and watch them grow. Then we go to a farm, pick berries and that evening read a book about the berries we picked.

We are getting ready to go to Jamesport, Missouri which is an Amish Community. My kids have not done this but we are so excited about it! The field trip we have been on that we really loved was to the Kansas City Chiefs Stadium. We were able to go on the field and in the locker rooms! Great fun!

My husband works for a large well known corporation and has to travel a lot over the next 6 months (we will see him only 10 days total in July/August), so to combat this, we are doing the following Family Field Trips: 1) This week swimming at the US Whitewater Training Facility in the river and then listening to live bands 2) This weekend traveling to South Carolina (2.5 hrs) to see a live performance of A Mid-Summer’s Night Dream since we are doing that play study next year 3) Traveling with him to Tampa next month and along the way stopping at some amazing State Parks in Florida (our favorite that he’s never seen is Washington Oaks State Park in Palm Coast, FL), as well as going behind the scenes in Disney (have a relative who works there) and then onto Tampa to learn about manatees and drive a bit more to visit Sanibel Island to experience some of the best sea shelling in the world.

We went to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, and took the Black Point tour. We took a boat 45 minutes to a beautiful summer lake house owned by the Wisconsin State Historical Society. Then we took a tour of the house, and went back to the landing by boat. They only allow 50 people per day into the house, but kids are allowed, and encouraged to look at the Victorian-era dollhouse on the second floor 🙂
